Google Earth flight sim IS documented

Contrary to some of the chatter about the flight simulator inside the current version of Google Earth, the feature is documented.

You'll find the commands under Flight Simulator Keyboard Controls.

Adding a flight simulator to a program that already lets you 'fly' around the world is one of those ideas that seems so obvious in retrospect. All the scenery and animation was in place, so essentially all that was needed was some UI work plus a physics simulator.

Just keep an eye on your download meter if you're on a low-end broadband plan: like other uses of Google Earth, a fair amount of data is streamed to your computer to make the software work.
