Universe offers bulk PDF password cracking

Business IT - Technology

Universe Software's pdf-Recover Server Edition claims to be capable of unlocking in one batch an unlimited number of PDF files encrypted at up to 128-bit AES, company officials claim.

"PDF documents are nearly always password-protected against alteration, addition, copying, printing and any other processing," said company officials. "This often presents serious drawbacks in work processes involving several companies - such as agencies, publishing houses, printers – as the document password has to be known for each and every PDF document."

The program is available for various versions of Windows (95 to XP), Linux and Mac OS X for $US483/€350. Universe also offers a $US26/€19 desktop version that removes the master password from one document at a time. A limited free trial version can be downloaded.
