EA gets back to the Mac

Business IT - Technology

EA games will once again be available on the Mac, Bing Gordon, co-founder and chief creative officer of Electronic Arts announced on stage alongside Apple CEO Steve Jobs at the Worldwide Developers Conference earlier today.

"Our CTO at Electronic Arts lives on Mac and we're seeing EA technologists move to Mac in droves," said Gordon, along with many of his friends in various occupations.

"They want to go into an Apple Store and see all the latest EA games simultaneously released with all the other platforms, and so I'm here today to announce we're going to rectify the situation," he said. "Starting in July we're going to bring four of our biggest titles to run under OS X, and they are Command and Conquer 3... Battlefield 2142... Need for Speed Carbon... and finally in July Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix."

The first EA sports games with simultaneous launch on Mac will be the upcoming versions of John Madden Football and Tiger Woods Golf.

Neither Gordon nor a media release issued by the company indicated whether the games would require an Intel-based Mac or if they will run on older models powered by the PowerPC G4 or G5 chips.
