DataViz opens Office 2007 files on Windows Mobile

Business IT - Technology

The latest version of Documents To Go allows Windows Mobile users to view Word and Excel 2007 documents.

Compatible with Windows Mobile 5 Smartphone and 6 Standard, Documents To Go Premium Edition 3 handles Open XML based .docx and .xlsx files. The $US29.99 application includes a free upgrade to a forthcoming version that will also allow the creation and editing of Word, Excel and PowerPoint 2007 files.

Compatibility with the Open XML formats has been an issue for users of other applications since Office 2007 appeared. For example, Microsoft has only just released a beta version of a translator allowing Office for Mac 2004 and V.x to open Word 2007 .docx files.

"As more and more businesses upgrade to Office 2007, the use of these files on mobile devices will become standard practice," said Danny Tu, Documents To Go product manager at DataViz. "Documents To Go is ready to support these file types giving users the flexibility to access their sales numbers, contracts and other critical files on the go."
