Parallels disabling MacBook batteries, users say

Business IT - Technology

Build 3188 of the Parallels Desktop for Mac virtualisation software is disabling MacBook batteries, according to user reports on a well-regarded Mac/Windows compatibility site.

MacWindows has published multiple reports from users who have installed or updated Parallels Desktop to build 3188 and now find their MacBooks or MacBook Pros shut down immediately when changing to battery power and will not restart until reconnected to mains power.

MacWindows speculates that Parallels Desktop is interfering with the software that monitors the battery charge, causing it to report a flat battery.

Not other users are experiencing the issue, and at least one has encountered it with an earlier build.

Parellels Desktop for Mac Build 3188 was released on March 7 and is offered by Parallel's web site as the current version.
