Apple iTunes Store offers 'Complete My Album' discount

A new iTunes feature called Complete My Album allows customers to turn individual track purchases into a complete album at a discount price.

The iTunes Store now provides a full $US0.99/$A1.69/£0.79 credit for each track already purchased if the customer opts to buy the complete album within 180 days.

For example, Gwen Stefani's The Sweet Escape contains 12 tracks and sells for $US9.99 as a complete album. Someone that had already purchased three tracks from it would be able to complete the album for $US7.02 rather than paying $US8.91 for the remaining nine tracks.

"Music fans can now round out their music collections by upgrading their singles into complete albums with just one click, and get full credit for those songs they have previously purchased from iTunes," said Eddy Cue, Apple’s vice president of iTunes. "Complete My Album is a wonderful new way that iTunes helps customers grow and enjoy their music collections."

In some cases, there is no benefit. Meat Loaf's Bat Out of Hell (Gold Disc), for example, costs $US6.93, the same price as buying the seven tracks individually.
