Sophos makes nice with Microsoft and Vista

Business IT - Security

IT security vendor, Sophos, has announced a new version of Sophos Anti-Virus which supports the Microsoft Windows Vista operating system, including the much discussed Patchguard kernel locker.

Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista, version 6.5 includes a full service security system including protection against viruses, spyware, adware and potentially unwanted applications.

The Sophos service will also include its own central management console, automatic scanning and automatic updates. Sophos customers using the existing product for Windows 2000/XP/2003, version 6.0 will be updated to support Vista automatically, without any user intervention.

“Sophos has established very close ties with Microsoft to ensure we protect our business customers against threats that may emerge targeting the new Vista platform.  Sophos Anti-Virus running on Vista provides unprecedented protection and fully supports Microsoft’s new functionality including PatchGuard," said Rob Forsyth, Managing Director for Sophos Asia Pacific.
