iTWire UPDATE - it's FREE!

Although threatened for a 9pm (AEST) release, we have not yet seen the ISP usage data file threatened to be released by the hacktivist group Anonymous.

A variety of reports have suggested that the hacktivist group Anonymous planned to release a significant data file reflecting the download habits of the users of a specific Australian ISP. According to the report, an Anonymous spokesperson said, "We're trying not to hurt people with (the) information but this is a rather large amount of data to deal with so we must be patient."

iTWire alluded to this threat in a report that touched on the recent Queensland Government website defacements..

The announced deadline of 9pm Wednesday has now passed without any obvious release, although a significant number of ISP staff remains on tenterhooks.

While researching this story, this writer was amused to note that there was code in the source of Anonymous' Par:anoiA site that continued to assist visitors afflicted with the DNSchanger malware.

Aren't they a nice bunch of boys!
