NEC teams with Webroot to offer mobile device security and management

Business IT - Security

NEC has teamed up with US-based Internet & PC security technology company Webroot to develop mobile security technology and services for the smartphone and tablet market, to be offered both to telcos and to end users.

Their joint offering, 'NEC Mobile Security Pro', is claimed to "encompass everything from extensive anti-malware measures to a mobile device security layer."

NEC will offer it direct to the telecommunications carrier market and will use Webroot channels in both the Japanese and other markets. The product is presently available only in Japanese and English, but support for other languages is in the pipeline.

According to NEC, "This latest cloud-based integrated security solution enables an all-in-one cloud-based security service for the rapidly expanding mobile sector in a package that is easy to install and offers a safe and secure, user-friendly business environment."
