Adobe fixes critical Acrobat and Reader vulnerabilities

Business IT - Security

An update to Adobe Reader and Acrobat addresses multiple critical vulnerabilities.

Once a quarter, Adobe's quarterly schedule for releasing security updates aligns with Microsoft's monthly Patch Tuesday. January 2012 is one of those months.

Adobe has released critical updates for Reader and Acrobat. Reader X and Acrobat X have been updated to version 10.1.2, and the new versions of Reader 9 and Acrobat 9 are numbered 9.5.

Both the Windows and Mac versions of Adobe's software are affected.

The updates address multiple vulnerabilities that could lead to code execution. Adobe recommends all users install the relevant update.

The updates can be installed via the programs' built-in update feature (eg, Help>Check for Updates) or by downloading updaters via Adobe's web site.
