Bitdefender Total Security 2012: the strong, silent type?

Business IT - Security

The latest release from Bitdefender is part of an early start to the Spring security software season.

Bitdefender Total Security 2012 has arrived, with a new user interface and a silent Autopilot mode. The idea of Autopilot is that it quietly protects against a wide variety of threats without disturbing the user.

Other new features include the monitoring of privacy settings and link scanning for Facebook users, much faster installation, browser virtualisation (to isolate the browser from the rest of the system, minimising the impact of web threats), and background scanning during idle periods.

The new version of Bitdefender Total Security 2012 also provides online backup and file synchronisation (with 2GB of storage at no extra charge) and a rescue mode to allow the removal of rootkits and other hard to clean malware.

Priced at $104.95 for up to three PCs, Bitdefender Total Security includes antivirus, antiphishing, antispam, firewall, chat and file encryption, online backup, tune-up, and parental controls.
