Adobe plans to release a security update for Flash Player 10.2 on Friday April 15 (US time). Additional related updates will follow for other Adobe software.

Adobe is about to release an update for Flash Player 10.2 for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and Solaris. The update will address an actively exploited vulnerability.

The exploit is being carried out through malicious web pages, or by an malicious Flash file embedded in Word or Excel files sent as email attachments. The update for Flash Player 10.2 is scheduled for release on Friday April 15 (US time).

The latest version of Google Chrome (10.0.648.205) already contains the updated Flash Player.

Corresponding updates for Adobe Acrobat X (10.0.2) and earlier 10.x and 9.x versions for Windows and Macintosh, Adobe Reader X (10.0.1) for Macintosh, and Adobe Reader 9.4.3 and earlier 9.x versions for Windows and Macintosh are scheduled for release no later than the week of April 25, Adobe officials said.

Adobe Reader X for Windows will not be patched until the next quarterly update (scheduled for June 14) as its protected mode prevents such exploits from succeeding.
