Apple pushes latest Java versions to Mac OS X

Business IT - Security

Apple has addressed a swag of vulnerabilities with updates to its versions of Java for Mac OS X.

Apple has released Java updates for Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) and 10.6 (Snow Leopard).

Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 9 delivers Java 1.5.0_28 and Java 1.6.0_24, which provide fixes for 11 and 16 vulnerabilities respectively.

Java for Mac OS X 10.6 only supports Java 1.6, so Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 4 only includes 1.6.0_22.

All Apple says about the updates is that they provide improved reliability, security, and compatibility. The updates are available via Software Update or from Apple's Support Downloads page.

Sun released Java 1.6.0_24 in mid February.
