Sybase will offer its Afaria Advanced Enterprise Security for Android on the Galaxy S and Galaxy S II smartphones in conjunction with Samsung.
Working with Android 2.3 or later, Sybase Afaria Advanced Enterprise Security (AES) provides security management, application management, configuration management, Exchange client configuration, and over-the-air deployment automation.
A partnership between SAP subsidiary Sybase and Samsung will see AES available for the Galaxy S and S II by the end of June.
"As more employees are empowered with mobile access to enterprise systems, applications and data through their device of choice, the requirement for IT to support the widening array of device types can be extremely complex and unwieldy,' said Dereck Daymond, managing director for Australia and New Zealand at Sybase. "The combination of Samsung's leading devices and Sybase's best-in-class mobile device management and security solution now bring Android to the level enterprises require for full-scale deployments."
Jongshin Kim, vice president of Samsung Electronics' enterprise solution group, said "The partnership with Sybase enables our enterprise customers to confidently embrace Samsung Android devices."
"Sybase provides a comprehensive solution that helps Samsung Galaxy S and Galaxy S II set a new security standard within the Android ecosystem. With the widespread adoption of both personally-owned and corporate-owned Samsung devices, our enterprise customers can now enjoy the benefits of Samsung's compelling Galaxy S devices in the most secure and consistent manner."
