WatchGuard add-in for Outlook helps spam filtering

Business IT - Security

Changes to WatchGuard's XCS appliances provide extra control over email.

The WatchGuard XCS appliances provide email and web content security functions. The latest version of the software puts more control in the hands of users.

A new Outlook add-in provides a convenient way for users to report messages that were incorrectly classified as 'spam' or 'not spam' (aka 'ham'). It can also be used to add a sender to the user's 'trusted' or 'blocked' lists.

The add-in provides users with a way of improving the accuracy of filtering without having to involve IT staff.

Another new XCS feature is the ability to encrypt outbound messages in the appliance. This means encryption can be enforced regardless of the email client software, or without requiring a separate encryption appliance.

The updated software is available to XCS customers at no charge.
