Adobe is bringing forward the release of an update for Flash Player that will overcome an actively-exploited security vulnerability.
Last week,
Adobe disclosed the existence of a critical vulnerability in Flash Player 10.1.82.76 and earlier versions for Windows, Macintosh, Linux and Solaris, as well as Adobe Flash Player 10.1.92.10 for Android.
At the time, the company said it expected to release an updated version of Flash Player during the week of September 27, but that schedule has already been revised.
The new version of Flash Player has already been delivered as part of Chrome 6.0.472.62, and will be released for Windows, Macintosh, Linux, Solaris, and Android on September 20 (US time).
Adobe is still saying that the only known attacks are against the Windows version of Flash Player.
A corresponding vulnerability also exists in Acrobat and Reader 9.3.4, and that will be fixed in the accelerated quarterly update now planned for the week of October 4.
