Dell virtualises Firefox for secure browsing

Business IT - Security

A free tool from Dell's KACE operation uses application virtualisation to isolate Firefox, helping to keep the rest of the system free from malware.

Dell KACE Secure Browser provides an isolated instance of Firefox so users can browse the web without the risk of their computer becoming infected by drive-by downloads and other threats.

"Internet browsing is one of the number one sources for malware,” said Rob Meinhardt, co-founder and president of Dell KACE.

"With the Dell KACE Secure Browser, we stop malware at its source and trap it, and even provide granular control over browser activity," he added.

Adobe Reader and Flash are preinstalled in the copy of Firefox contained in Secure Browser. The software also includes black and white lists to control the sites visited and the applications the browser can launch.

Secure Browser can be centrally deployed and managed from the Dell KACE K100 management appliance.
