New integration with Microsoft software from NetApp makes it easier for service providers to deliver data protection services to smaller clients.
NetApp officials say the improved integration with Microsoft Dynamic Data Centre Toolkit for Hosters allows service providers to deliver enterprise-class data protection to SME clients.
According to company officials, NetApp is currently the only storage vendor that provides seamless integration with the Dynamic Data Centre Toolkit. This allows hosting providers to take advantage of the disaster recovery, clustered failover and other data protection facilities in NetApp products.
"SMBs are demanding enterprise-class disaster recovery solutions, and hosting service providers are in a tremendous position to fill that demand as more SMBs move toward hosted IT services," said John Zanni, general manager of worldwide hosting for the communications sector at Microsoft.
"We're pleased to be working with NetApp as part of the Dynamic Data Centre Alliance to enable hosting service providers to offer these disaster recovery solutions, and to take another step to move beyond commoditised hosting services to become full-service IT providers to their customers," he added.
Patrick Rogers, vice president of solutions and alliances marketing at NetApp said the integration arms regional and local service providers with the ability to deliver cost-effective enterprise-class data protection services to their customers.
NetApp has also announced new consulting services aimed at providers planning to use the Dynamic Data Centre Toolkit integration, along with new documentation to assist providers in the design and deployment of enterprise-class Exchange-, SharePoint-, infrastructure-, storage-, or desktop-as-a-service.
