Armidale based RMteK has developed a system, RMCam, for video monitoring of remote locations that combines a camera, motion and other sensors, solar power and Next G wireless modem supported by processing power 'in the cloud'.
The key attribute of the system is the host software, configurable via a web interface, that enables users to specify a wide range of parameters that will cause an image to be transmitted.
According to RMteK director and founder, Brendan Doyle, "Our software allows us to set any number of trigger points for sensors to take a picture, send an alert, or do both, based on factors such as motion, temperature, humidity, dewpoints, rain events, wind speed and direction or soil moisture.
"And by offering our service in the cloud by running all the software and server computations on our end, our users don't need to run any applications - they can just log in through a web browser on their phone or computer to view results or control any of its features 24/7."
He said the company had chosen to limit the product to still images because "high definition CCTV is beyond the current capabilities of wireless networks and solar panels."
