McAfee speeds 2010 consumer security suites

Business IT - Security

McAfee claims its 2010 security products deliver "the most effective, fastest and lightest sonsumer PC protection to date."

Headline features of McAfee's 2010 security products include up to eight times faster scanning and an all-new user interface said to suit novices and experts.

The company also promises expanded protection against threats, and that the new software is number one in detection.

"Every feature of this release is best-of-breed," said Javed Hasan, vice president of product management for the McAfee consumer product group.

"The new enhancements for this 2010 Q1 release offer consumers what they want: strong and unobtrusive protection with market-leading performance. With McAfee, consumers are protected by the same intelligence and technology used to defend governments and Fortune 500 companies around the world," added Hasan.

Other changes include the provision of online storage space (McAfee Total Protection and McAfee Internet Security only), improved parental controls (featuring predefined age groups and 18 content categories), and a 50% reduction in memory usage.
