Check Point adds Mac support to Full Disk Encryption range

Check Point Full Disk Encryption is now available for Mac OS X 10.6

While Mac OS X's FileVault feature can encrypt the contents of a user's home folder, it is sometimes desirable to encrypt the entire disk. That's where Check Point Full Disk Encryption comes in.

It joins the existing products for Windows, Linux, VMware, Symbian, Windows Mobile, and Palm. Centralised deployment, management and logging capabilities simplify policy administration, streamline compliance and reduce total cost of ownership, company officials claimed.

Check Point Full Disk Encryption is certified to Common Criteria EAL4, FIPS-140-2 and BITS.

The product uses pre-boot authentication, requiring a username and password (or a multi-factor authentication scheme) before the operating system loads. It also provides for remote support for forgotten passwords or lost tokens.

"Enterprises need to ensure the same level of endpoint security is met throughout the organisation," said Ben Khoushy, vice president endpoint security products at Check Point.

"Now with support for Snow Leopard, Check Point Full Disk Encryption offers customers one solution for all operating system types that is easy to deploy and manage, improving overall endpoint security," he added.
