One affects Excel in Office XP, 2003, 2004, 2007 and 2008, plus the related format converters and viewers.

The other concerns Word in Office XP, 2003, 2004 and 2008, plus the related format converters and viewers.

(Yes, that's Office 2004 and 2008 for Mac.)

Both Office updates may require a restart if the affected components are in use at the time the updates are in use at the time the updates are applied.

All but one of this month's updates address remote code execution vulnerabilities. The exception is the Windows bulletin rated important, which concerns a potential denial of service attack.

The customary updates to the Malicious Software Removal Tool and the Junk E-mail Filter are also expected.
