Using GPS tracking to monitor the location of vehicles and other assets is nothing new, but GoFinder reckons its new SmartSystem is the first device of its kind to sell for less than $A400.
Aimed at mining, construction, transport and industrial equipment hire companies, the SmartSystem 'phones home' via Globalstar.
"Once installed the GoFinder SmartSystem receives tracking location information from valuable 'theft risk' mobile or unpowered assets, vehicles, boats, equipment, cargo and freight anywhere in Australia," said GoFinder director Graham Thomas.
"There is no installation cost involved, the unit operates on AA lithium batteries giving up to three year battery life, allowing you a peace of mind birds-eye satellite view of your property, online, 24/7," he added.
Once moved outside a predefined area of operation, the SmartSystem starts sending alerts giving its location.
In addition to the purchase price, there is a $A99 connection fee plus ongoing charges of $A25-30 (depending on payment frequency) per month. The first two position reports per day are included; any extra cost 25c each.
Additional alerts are free if delivered by email, or 25c each for SMS notification.
