AVG announces record sales and new staff in AU/NZ

Business IT - Security

It just goes to show that if you have the right model, your business will shine even in these tough times.

I guess its no surprise that the villains, fiends and malcontents throughout the Internet don't notice that there is a "Global Financial Crisis."  Or perhaps they do; but their output certainly hasn't changed much either way.  Every AV vendor will tell you that there are plenty of new threats to deal with on a day-to-day basis.

However, the number of AV vendors that are ignoring the downward trend are somewhat fewer.  It's a fair bet that most would suggest that their sales are falling in line with the economic downturn.

Which is why it's such a surprise to see that AVG is not just bucking the trend, they've positively kicked it three paddocks over!

Announcing "record sales in April, followed by the second-highest month ever in May," AVG (AU/NZ) Managing Director, Peter Cameron noted that "Overall sales results for the first quarter 2009 showed a 101 per cent growth over the same period in 2008.

"We're delighted to have made it into BRW's Fast Starters list for the second year in a row, highlighting our strong performance in this market," said Cameron.  In fact they've moved up from 48th position last year to 15th in 2009.

Operating a multi-tiered approach to distribution has obviously paid off – they have over 2350 resellers and a number of major corporate partners and recently announced partnerships with Suncorp Bank and 3 Mobile Broadband.

In addition to record sales, AVG has also taken on another 7 staff at their Melbourne headquarters, taking total local staff to 30.

"We're here for the long haul and plan to cement AVG's position as a leading provider of security software solutions in this market."
