Some people I know have been holding out for 3 to offer the iPhone. They won't have to wait much longer.

In a tersely worded statement typical of what we've come to expect, Vodafone Hutchinson Australia - the recently formed joint venture of Vodafone Australia and Hutchinson 3G Australia - said the iPhone 3G S will be available in July through 3's stores and website.

Current or prospective customers are invited to register their interest here.

VHA revealed neither an exact release date nor prices and plans. All of the Australian carriers seem to be waiting for the last moment to provide customers with this crucial information.

They wouldn't want to give the most eager buyers a chance to shop around and compare plans, would they?
