As he warns, “the grim economic climate has inevitably led to the proliferation of e-crime,” and, “the latest trends that BitDefender has observed reveal several alarming aspects.”

According to Vâlceanu the first of these alarming trends is that since the beginning of 2009, scams and phishing schemes have followed an ascendant curve – or in layman’s terms, they’re well and truly on the rise -  and, secondly, the “complexity and aggressiveness of raids and attacks have dramatically increased.”

Also quite worrying, says Vâlceanu, is the fact that the number of people infected has also been growing exponentially,” and, as you’d expect from a security firm, he recommends that, along with paying close attention to the emails you receive, “it is also important to have a reliable security solution in order to prevent future attacks.”
