US-based name matching software developer, Language Analysis Systems (LAS), has set up an Australian office in Canberra, to capture a share of the immigration security market.
LAS hopes to sell its systems into government entities and law enforcement agencies wanting to search and match names against watch lists. On the commercial side of its business, LAS wants to capture marlets related to data quality, money laundering, cultural specific data marketing and know-your-customer issues, among others.
Jack Hermansen, CEO of Language Analysis Systems said: 'LAS is the world's recognized leader in providing multi-cultural name recognition software solutions for mission critical applications and continues to field inquiries from governments and commercial companies around the world.' 'Through local market offices and partnerships with local experts, LAS will be able to share its success in the US with international markets requiring better name recognition facilities.'
The LAS office in Canberra will serve Singapore, New Zealand, and the Asia-Pacific region. 'LAS will have a strong focus on key Government clients within border security and intelligence. In the commercial arena, including banking and finance, direct marketing and data quality, we will work with leading partners who can provide total solutions to these markets,' said Frank Jensen managing director, LAS Australia and Asia Pacific.
LAS has worked with U.S. Intelligence and Border Protection agencies for nearly two decades on name matching and searching applications. In addition, LAS works with financial services and marketing service providers, database marketers and data quality companies to improve the collection, maintenance and accuracy of personal names.
