Little new in Firefox 3.5.6

Business IT - Open Source

Firefox 3.5.6 delivers important security fixes as well as stability improvements, but that's about it.

Firefox 3.5.6 provides a stack of fixes for stability issues and - perhaps more importantly - seven security fixes, including three for critical issues.

Two of the critical issues concern flaws in the libtheora and liboggplay libraries; the third relates to multiple crashing situations in the Gecko browser engine that showed the potential to be exploited.

Of the other four security issues, one was rated high, two moderate, and one low impact.

A number of known bugs remain in Firefox, including slow restoration of bookmarks from a backup, an obscure issue involving Flash and the Cookies dialog, and print-related issues under Windows and Mac OS X.

Firefox for Windows or Mac OS X can be most easily updated by using the program's Check for Updates command.
