Firefox 2 turns 13

Business IT - Open Source

A new point release of Firefox, the popular web browser, plugs multiple security holes.

Firefox 2.0.0.13 addresses half a dozen security advisories.

Two of the issues are rated critical - one involving crashes that could theoretically be exploited to run arbitrary code, the other concerned JavaScript with privilege escalation and potential for cross site scripting exploits and arbitrary code execution.

The update also addresses two high-impact issues, one moderate and one low.

It appears no functional changes have been made to 2.0.0.13.

Unlike some previous Firefox 2 releases, 2.0.0.13 installed correctly on the writer's systems via the program's internal update mechanism without having to download the entire program.
