Firefox fixes Windows woes

Open Source

Firefox 2.0.0.9, released late last week, fixes several issues that plagued some Windows users after they installed version 2.0.0.8.

As many iTWire readers found, Firefox 2.0.0.8 had a tendency to disable any add-ons that had previously been installed. Fortunately, workaround was not too arduous in most cases.

Other problems with 2.0.0.8 on Windows related to CSS, Java, image maps, and a bug that could cause the program to crash on startup.

Only one Windows related issue remains to be fixed in Firefox: the program currently does not honour parental control settings in Vista when downloading files.

A small number of issues still exist in the Mac OS X version, notably a couple of Leopard compatibility problems and a pair or relatively minor bugs.
