Vanco provides services to enterprises, outsourcers and also to carriers. It claims that its virtual network approach "provides the capability for carriers to quickly and simply extend their off-net reach by accessing the entire global telecoms market."
Vanco has had a presence in Australia for several years, initially confined to servicing the local offices of its overseas customers rather than being an active sales operation. That changed in late 2003 when the company beefed up its Australian operation and appointed a managing director, Grant Ellison.
Local customers include Lend Lease, hotel group Accor, O’Brien Glass, Business Travel International and global engineering company Smiths Group.
The company declined to comment on whether it was behind the October 6 announcement.
