MyNetFone upgrades hosted IP PBX offering

MyNetFone (ASX MNF) has released an upgraded version of its cloud-based IP PBX with what it says is a host of new features. The same functionality will also be available, white-labelled for sale to other service providers by MyNetFone subsidiary, Symbio Networks, which operates the platform supporting the product.

Some of the new features for the MyNetFone Virtual PBX will not be available for some time - Q2, of 2012 - and it is probably no con-incidence that MyNetFone's announcement was made within hours of Telcoinabox's announcement that it had launched a white-labelled cloud-based IP PBX service for its service provider customers, provided by Seven Group subsidiary, engin and running on a BroadSoft platform.

Also today, Aria Technologies, the Australian distributor of LG-Ericsson (formerly LG-Nortel) business communications products announced that it had formed a partnership with engin under which it will offer engin's hosted IP telephony service with CPE from LG-Ericsson, starting in December.

According to Rene Sugo, technical director of MyNetFone, "'¦releasing so many new features in one go puts our virtual PBX in a different ball game'¦We have been saying for a while that virtual PBX is a good alternative to traditional phone systems, but now it will just blow them out of the ball park."

According to MyNetFone, the NBN rollout has created an increased demand for IP voice solutions. "Virtual PBX caters to exactly that demand, delivering a hosted phone system for businesses looking to take the 'virtual leap' into the NBN world, get rid of their legacy landline services and switch to an entirely IP-based communications model."

Features added in the new 2.0 release of Virtual PBX include: custom music on hold; Microsoft Outlook integration; geographical routing for 1300/1800/13 numbers; time of day routing; multi-time zone support; multi-tiered auto attendant; extension-based routing through auto attendant; increased size of hunt groups; email to fax; and call recording.
