Business IT - Networking

Global hotspot access provider, Boingo Wireless has launched a new unlimited Wi-Fi access plan designed for users wanting to connect laptops in the Asia Pacific region, including continental Asia and Australasia.

The service provides one solution to the high cost of mobile data roaming, highlighted in two separate reports today from the OECD and the New Zealand Government.

Boingo Asia Pacific gives users of laptops unlimited access at more than 145,000 hotspots in Asia Pacific for $US11.95 per month. Usage outside the designated region is billed at $US0.12 to $US0.18 per minute and have access to more than 200,000 additional hotspots across the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.

Boingo is available in 22 countries in Asia Pacific including China, Korea, Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand, India, Singapore and Malaysia. Globally Boingo enables Internet access in 98 countries.

"The new Boingo Asia Pacific plan furthers our efforts to provide a locally relevant plan, regardless of where someone lives or uses Wi-Fi," said Dawn Callahan, vice president of consumer marketing at Boingo Wireless. "Travellers in Asia now have an affordable option for regional Wi-Fi roaming, that also provides the flexibility of pay-as-you-go pricing for use outside their home region."

For Smartphone users Boingo offers Boingo Mobile, an unlimited plan that includes access to Boingo's entire global network of more than 325,000 hotspots for $US7.95 per month. Boingo Mobile is available for Android, Blackberry, iPhone/iPod Touch, Nokia Nseries and Eseries and Windows Mobile devices.

Customers can sign up for Boingo Asia Pacific at www.boingo.com. Other regional plans include Boingo UK & Ireland, Boingo Europe Plus, and Boingo Unlimited (North and South America). Worldwide access is available with Boingo Global.
