Motorola expands wireless Ethernet bridge family

Business IT - Networking

Motorola claims new models in its PTP 200 series of point-to-point wireless Ethernet bridges provide customers with line-of-sight and near-line-of-site radio links with higher data rates at a very competitive price.

Motorola's PTP 230 operates in the 5.8GHz spectrum, giving connections of up to 50Mbps with a range of up to 129km (80 miles). Cokmpany officials said its applications include broadband base station backhaul and the provision of broadband connectivity to enterprise customers.

The PTP 250 operates in the 5.4GHz or 5.8GHz spectrum, and uses multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technology for improved reliability and up to 220Mbps of throughput. According to Motorola officials, it is ideal for sending surveillance video between locations, or to replace leased lines between buildings.

"Motorola Solutions saw the growing challenge faced by enterprise and government customers to reduce costs while increasing the use of new, more sophisticated and data rich applications," said Roy Wittert, manager, wireless network solutions, Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific.

"Our new solutions address this need by delivering high-performance broadband connectivity at a right price point without sacrificing the reliability, security and support for which Motorola is known in this market," he added.
