Note Printing Australia cashes in on D-Link pricing

Business IT - Networking

Banknote printer Note Printing Australia has chosen D-Link to supply the hardware for a network upgrade.

Note Printing Australia's old 10/100Mbps Ethernet network was no longer adequate to handle the amount of traffic being generated following organisational growth.

The Reserve Bank of Australia subsidiary decided it needed 10Gbps switching capacity, more network connections, Layer 3 Internet routing and support for IPv6, and settled on D-Link products.

"We looked at other suppliers including Cisco and HP as we do have some Cisco equipment already, said IT manager Peter Annear.

"If we had chosen Cisco we wouldn't have been able to afford the network expansion offered by D-Link's solution. Additionally, the complexity of a Cisco solution would have also involved higher service costs to get it up and running, he added."

Overall, the upgrade was around half the price of alternatives from other vendors.
