CSIRO plans week-long broadband event

Business IT - Networking

The CSIRO 's ICT Centre is to stage - in Tasmania, the birthplace of Australia's FTTH network - a week long event designed to help Australia realise the full potential of the broadband future.

According to the CSIRO, "A highlight of the event will be the second Australia-China Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) Summit which is focusing on areas of common interest in wireless broadband, sensors and sensor networks and e-health." Another parallel event will be a technical workshop focusing on sensors and sensor networks.

At the event, dubbed "Broadband For Society", CSIRO intends to showcase both technologies it has developed that enable broadband, and those of its technologies that are enabled by broadband.

The main event will be held in parallel with the Australia-China IT summit and with a workshop on sensors and sensor networks. One day will be devoted to each of: business opportunities from broadband; e-government and e-learning; wireless broadband; e-health; and broadband enabled technologies.

The event will be held from 15-19 November at Wrestpoint. Details here.
