Apple offers out of warranty coverage for Time Capsule problem

Business IT - Networking

Apple will replace or repair certain out-of-warranty Time Capsules if they show a particular fault.

Apple has quietly announced that it will repair or replace Time Capsules sold around the February-June 2008 period that are affected by a specific problem.

The affected units have serial numbers in the range XX807XXXXXX to XX814XXXXXX.

"If your Time Capsule falls within serial number range above and it does not power on or shuts down unexpectedly after starting up, it may be eligible for repair or replacement," reads an Apple technical support note.

Replacements or repairs can be arranged through authorised service providers, Apple Stores, or an Apple contact centre (in Australia, phone 1300 321 456).

This repair/replacement program is offered for three years from the date of original purchase, and only applies to Time Capsules that are actually showing the specified behaviour.
