Juniper Networks is expected to unveil in the second quarter the first products under its Status data centre network simplification initiative, announced just a year go.
The
Stratus announcement was unusual for Juniper in that there was no mention of specific products or even any firm indication of when these might appear.
The company justified the move by saying that Status, which had already been in train for over year, would represent several years and hundreds of millions of dollars of research before anything tangible emerged and the company wanted to keep investors and customers informed.
Andy Ingram, VP of business development for fabric and switching at Juniper Network was in Sydney last week for an analyst briefing. When asked by iTWire if the Stratus product announcements could be expected soon he said: "The answer is yes. You can expect something...We will make some interesting announcements [at the GSM World Congress] in Barcelona, but the focus there is really on the service provider and on mobility.
"So we want to spread the news out in the second quarter around the data centre and we will have new products and some successes."
Another indication that an announcement may not too far off is
a new blog posting from the head of the Stratus Project, David Yen, executive vice president, emerging technologies, re-iterating Juniper's vision of the data centre network.
