Telstra buys Aussie made radios for 3G backhaul

LongReach Group has received orders worth $3 million from Ericsson for its microwave radios for use in Telstra's new 3G network.

LongReach says it anticipates that additional orders up to a total of $10 million will be received as the Telstra 3G roll out progresses -dependent upon further testing of its new 100Mbps microwave radio.

The radios will all be manufactured in Australia at the Startronics manufacturing facility, a joint venture company partly owned by Longreach, and will be supplied under the Marconi contract with Telstra, previously announced by LongReach in late 2004. The relevant parts of the Marconi business were acquired by Ericsson in early 2006.
