Telstra has revealed the addition of almost one million new mobile services in the six months to December 2011, but Sensis revenues plummeted 24 percent in 12 months.
Unwired has confirmed Melbourne as the next city in which it will roll out its wireless broadband service, describing it as "the obvious choice".
According to CEO, David Spence, "Our research shows there is significant pent up demand for our service in Melbourne. He declined to be drawn on when the company expected to launch services in Melbourne, but said the rollout would not take as long as Sydney.
"The real problem is getting access to sites. We have done our RF planing we know where we want to go. We have plans B and C in place if we cant get the right locations."
The company has done some preparatory work on rolling out to other areas but Spence said it was unlikely to pursue these until the next generation of its Navini wireless access technology becomes available. He said that the company would be able to fund some additional rollout, "depending on the take up rate in Melbourne and on maintaining growth rate in Sydney towards our 70,000 breakeven number."
