DANTE (Delivery of Advanced Network Technology to Europe), a non-profit organisation set up to plan, build and operate research and education networks, has upgraded its networks throughout Europe and Asia with Juniper Networks' M series routers to provide multicasting and IPv6 capabilities.
The Juniper routers will form the core of DANTE's second generation Trans-Eurasia Information Network (TEIN2), and its peer Mediterranean and North African network, EUMEDCONNECT. Both connect to GÉANT2, the pan-European research and education network, and provide research networking connectivity to national research and education networks. in countries that previously had limited research networking connectivity.
TEIN2 is a 622Mbps network ring extending from Copenhagen to key Asian locations and back to Europe via Frankfurt. It links Beijing, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, Australia, Japan and Korea.
DANTE, established in 1993, is owned, by a group of European national research and education networks.
