U.S. uses Internet over newspapers, but TV still tops

Business IT - Networking

A recent Pew Research Center study found that four out of ten U.S. citizens use the Internet, bypassing newspapers for the first time as the source for their national and international news. However, it also discovered that the use of television is still the most popular way to find out what is happening in the United States and around the world.

For the first time since doing its survey, PEW has found that newspapers are no longer more popular than the Web for people in the United Sates to get their national and international news.

Newspaper use dipped to 35% while the use of the Internet climbed from 24% to 40% in the United States.

However, the use of television is still in first place, though it has dropped from 74% to 70%.

Magazines were among the least popular way to receive national and international news, with only 4% of U.S. citizens getting such news in this manner.

However, magazine usage had increased 4% over its use in August of 2007, when less than 1% of people reported that use.

In August 2006, magazine use was reported at 1%.

Page two continues with how to find the PEW report, along with additional findings on the report.
