MyCareer launches salary comparison centre

Business IT - Networking

Fairfax job board, MyCareer, has launched a new section designed to help job seekers determine their worth in the market and find out where best paid jobs are.

MyCareer's new Salary Centre is claimed to be the first of its kind for any Australian job board.  According to mycareer.com.au, 25 industries ranging from Education, Mining, Marketing and Healthcare have been reviewed to provide the latest job trends and industry information to help employees plan for their next performance review or their next career move.

'We created this Salary Centre mainly because we found there were lots of industry and government bodies that advised employers on recommended industry salaries and fair pay, but there was no real service readily available to the public that was truly reflective of what's happening in the candidate market right now across the major industry sectors', said Lisa Watts general manager of mycareer.com.au.

'The Salary Centre will include a special index which will highlight Hot Jobs where there is a high chance of employment right now, jobs that have salaries trending upwards and jobs that are expected to increase in number.'

The MyCareer salary information is compiled by gathering the salaries of jobs advertised on the site. The data is also supplemented with industry trend information from The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations 'Australian Jobs 2005' report and The Age and The Sydney Morning Herald's quarterly Employment Forecast.
